Lutes in a Window, Florence Italy

Florence rewards getting lost in it — a turn near the Duomo you didn't plan, and suddenly a window full of instruments stacked like they'd been arguing over space.

Round bellies of mandolins, overlapping necks, one red cloth thrown over a shoulder of wood — the shapes are doing more work here than any one instrument could on its own.

This is the shop I never found again, on a street I couldn't retrace if I tried.

Imagine walking past this some ordinary Tuesday and stopping anyway, without knowing exactly why.

Some scenes only exist because you weren't trying to find them.
