What This Is — and Isn't

The commissions that work best involve sacred or atmospheric spaces, travel and memory, meaningful homes and places, symbolic compositions, and portraiture with emotional depth.

 

They start with emotional clarity, not a design brief. If you know how you want to feel when you look at it — the memory it should hold, the place it should take you — that's enough to begin. You don't need to know what the painting should look like. The best commissions often begin with a feeling and evolve through the design process.

 

The Process

01 — A Conversation

We start with your idea — a location, a memory, a mood, a story. Reference images are welcome. No fully-formed concept required. This conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

 

02 — Design Development

A non-refundable $200 design fee begins this phase — it ensures we're both serious before significant time is invested. It covers compositional exploration and up to two black-and-white sketches with one round of refinement. This fee is separate from the price of the painting itself and is not applied toward it.

 

03 — Final Direction and Agreement

Once we've confirmed a direction together, you'll receive final dimensions, pricing, timeline, and a formal agreement. A 50% deposit on the painting begins the work. The approved design is what I paint — it's the blueprint we've both signed off on.

 

04 — Painting and Delivery

Most commissioned paintings are completed within 60 days of the signed agreement. You'll receive progress updates throughout. Final payment is collected before delivery, and every piece ships with a certificate of authenticity.

Painting prices reflect scale, materials, complexity, and conceptual development. Large-scale or architecturally detailed works may exceed these ranges — your final price is confirmed in writing before any painting begins. The $300 design fee is separate and is required to begin design development.
